Minister-in-charge of Disaster Management Kyrmen Shylla has said that people should be alert and cautious in view of any disaster triggered by heavy rainfall.

2. Naga Students' body urges MHA to repeal AFSPA

The Naga Students Federation (NSF) appealed to the Central Government to ensure that the "controversial law" declaring the state of Nagaland as a "disturbed area" under the provisions of the Armed forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) 1958, is repealed once and for all, condemning the decision that the government made.

3. Assam man accused in minor’s rape-murder tries to escape, shot at by cops

Sixty-five-year-old Syed Ali, the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl at Bhuragaon in central Assam’s Morigaon district, was shot at by police when he tried to escape under the garb of answering nature’s call in the wee hours of Friday.

4. Police seize rhino horn and 19 grams of heroin, two arrested in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh police arrested two persons from Panchali area and seized one suspected rhino horn, one piece of elephant tusk and 19 grams of heroin.

Incessant downpours and heavy rainfalls have inflicted havoc in parts of Tripura, damaging over 600 houses, rendering over 2,000 people homeless in three districts of Tripura.
