Meghalaya police recover buried explosive materials near NH in West Garo Hills

According to the Superintendent of Police (WGH) Vivekanand Singh Rathore, an operation was launched on July 14 followed inputs from reliable sources on explosives being buried by miscreants near the National Highway in the Gabil area.

Meghalaya Police on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of explosives materials from the Gabil area in West Garo Hills (WGH) district during a search operation. 

According to the Superintendent of Police (WGH) Vivekanand Singh Rathore, an operation was launched on July 14, following inputs from reliable sources on explosives being buried by miscreants near the National Highway in the Gabil area. 

The recovered items include 2.25 Kg Gelatin Sticks (Class-2, Division- 2, Cat- ZZ), eight Non-Electric Detonators, eight  Electric Detonators, ten Clippers, two Cello Tapes and approximately 3 metres of Safety Fuse (Cordtex). 

“It seems the miscreants were planning to make the improvised explosive device (IED). A case has been registered and investigation is on,” Rathore said.
