Meghalaya: One arrested in IED blast case in Khliehriat

East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, has released a statement informing that a case has been registered against the accused at Khliehriat Police Station under the Explosive Substance Act.

SHILLONG/KHLIEHRIAT: 

Meghalaya Police, on Wednesday, arrested one person suspected to be behind the IED explosion that happened at the police reserve residential quarters at Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills on Wednesday morning. 


East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, has released a statement informing that a case has been registered against the accused at Khliehriat Police Station under the Explosive Substance Act.


According to the press release from the SP office, “The terrorists took advantage of darkness and heavy downpour to enact this act of cowardice.”


The SP's office informed that the proscribed outfit, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), has claimed responsibility for carrying out the explosion and currently, an investigation is ongoing to nab all the culprits involved in the act.

Earlier, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui also confirmed the incident and stated that a detailed investigation has been initiated in this regard.
