Former Manipur Congress Chief joins BJP

Konthoujam is a six-time elected Congress MLA from the Bishnupur Assembly Constituency.

Former Manipur Congress chief Govindas Konthoujam joined the saffron party on Sunday.

The former Manipur Congress chief joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, in the presence of Chief Minister Biren Singh and BJP leader Sambit Patra.

Speaking to mediapersons in the party headquarters, N Biren Singh said, “PM Narendra Modi has cared for the North-East, and recently five ministers from the region have been inducted into the Union cabinet. Manipur promises to make PM Modi led government stronger.”

Konthoujam is a six-time elected Congress MLA from the Bishnupur Assembly Constituency, and also the Chief Whip of the Congress Legislature Party in the Assembly. He had resigned as MPCC president on July 20
