DIBRUGARH:

The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has warned Oil India Limited (OIL) of dire consequences if the latter fails to fulfill its demand of providing permanent jobs to indigenous or local youth of Assam instead of contractual posts.

"We want to inform OIL that we will be left with no option but wage an armed rebellion against them if they maintain their anti-local stand and don’t transparently appoint local youths," reads a press release by ULFA-I signed by Rumel Asom.

ULFA-I has also urged the Tea Association Apeejay Tea Ltd and few other residents of Chabua not to fight over the historic polo field situated in Bishmile. "Let the field stay as a playground and develop it as Children Park," stated ULFA-I.

Meanwhile, the outfit also asked the Panitola Tea Estate authorities not to plant tea saplings on the playground near MK Shah Institution and warned the authority of action if the planting, which had already started, is not stopped. ULFA-I clarified that though they have declared unilateral ceasefire due to the COVID-19 outbreak, their revolution will continue.

ULFA-I had earlier extended its ceasefire with the government due to the Covid-19 pandemic for another three months after their previous three-month ceasefire ended on August 15.
