Addressing an election rally at Rongara in South Garo Hills ahead of the election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Sangma said that the opposition has "put their hands down" and are not even campaigning as the wave of NPP is across the region.

According to sources, miscreants vandalised the boundary wall of the ANSU office, broke windowpanes and furniture, and set fire to the parked private vehicles inside the premises.

8. COVID  SURGE: Will ramp-up tests but no lockdown or night curfew as of now, says Assam Health

The state witnessed as many as 195 COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, with Kamrup Metropolitan district reporting 104 cases, Dibrugarh district 19 cases and Kamrup Rural district reporting 16 cases.

9. Two-year-old girl raped by 14-year-old-boy in Uttar Pradesh

According to police, the boy raped the girl while playing with her on the terrace.

10Meghalaya police seize huge cache of anti-aircraft ammunition from East Garo Hills

 "The ammunition is suspected to be left over by late Sohan D Shira, the self-styled Commander in chief of the banned militant organisation GNLA," said a police official.
