ITANAGAR:

Police in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended ten individuals in connection with the students’ union poll-related violence that broke out at the office of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) on Monday.

According to sources, miscreants vandalised the boundary wall of the ANSU office, broke windowpanes and furniture, and set fire to the parked private vehicles inside the premises.

The miscreants also blocked the national highway by burning the tyres on the road, damaging several of the police department’s vehicles, including the streetlights and newly installed electric display board near the ANSU office.

District magistrates and senior police officials tried to de-escalate the situation, but the unruly mob joined by other civilians, armed with weapons, paid no heed to the officials.

Police also registered two cases at Itanagar police station, ICR superintendent of police Jimmy Chiram informed.
