Tripura reports highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases this year

Tripura reported 37 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Friday - the highest single-day spike this year.


According to a bulletin issued by the state Health Department, the situation has made the government put in place some strict measures to contain the spread of the virus.


At present, the state has 116 active cases, and the positivity rate is 5.18 per cent.


The state has, to date, reported 33,612 positive cases, 33,080 recoveries and 390 deaths.


Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Dr Debashish Das said the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) would organise a special COVID vaccination drive on April 9 and 10.


According to AMC, they will set up 50 vaccination centres in the municipal area to conduct the drive from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
“The vaccination will be free of cost, and people above the age of 45 can avail the opportunity to get vaccinated,” Das said.
