AGARTALA:

Tripura reported 62 fresh COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours on Tuesday, the highest number of infections in a single day this year.

338 cases have been reported in April alone, with an average of 26 infections per day.

According to the State Health Department, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 33,805 with 33,112 recoveries.

At present, the number of total active cases in the state stands at 273.

In the last 24 hours, 2099 people were tested in the state, of which 72 were found COVID-19 positive.

Amid the surge, the public have abstained from following the COVID guidelines and all offices and educational institutions are functioning as normal

With festivities like Bengali new year, Garia, Bishu, Baishu and other festivals around the corner, there is a growing concern about the rise in the number of cases in the coming days.

Despite the sudden spike, the District Administration has put no concrete measures to contain the virus at the moment, and police checking for Covid appropriate behaviour is minimal.
