Tripura reports 48 fresh COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

With the second wave of the COVID-19 gripping the country, some states have witnessed an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases.

Tripura reported 48 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Monday, taking the total infections in the state to 33,833, a bulletin issued by the Health Department said.


The active cases in the state now stand at 233.


Of the 33,833 positive cases, there were 33,083 recoveries and 391 fatalities.


The death rate in Tripura is 1.16 per cent - the highest in this Northeast. It also has the second-highest number of cases in the Northeast after Assam, with a positivity rate of 5.16 per cent.


With the second wave of the COVID-19 gripping the country, some states have witnessed an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases.


Tripura Chief Secretary had issued new COVID-19 guidelines a few days back, but as per sources, a majority of the people do not seem to follow them.


Even political leaders were earlier seen without masks while campaigning for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections.
