Tripura Police seize contraband worth Rs 15 lakh, including Bangladeshi currency

The items were seized after a raid was carried out under the supervision of the officer-in-charge of Bishalgarh Police Station.

Tripura police on Wednesday seized Bangladeshi currency and contraband worth Rs 15 lakh in Bishalgarh town in Sepahijala District. 


The recovered items include 200 bottles of Escof cough syrup, 2,500 Spasmo Proxyvon tablets, approximately 3.5 lakhs in Bangladeshi currency and over Rs 62,000 in Indian currency. 


Apart from this, gold ornaments worth Rs 3.5 lakh were also seized from the accused.


According to the district police officer Krishnendu Chakraborty, the items were seized after a raid was carried out under the supervision of the officer-in-charge of Bishalgarh Police Station, Debashish Saha, at the shop of Uttam Banik, known to be involved in the alleged dealing.


So far, the shopkeeper Uttam Banik and Sujit Saha have been arrested in connection with the case.
