GUWAHATI:

The Assam government, on Wednesday, has directed all departmental heads in the state to ascertain the vaccination status of frontline government employees before disbursing their salaries.

Following the revised order pertaining to all government as well as private firms employees, the State administration said that the workers will be required to attend office only after complete vaccination.

"The state health department has arranged for large scale vaccination of all eligible age groups, both online and offline, and as such all departmental heads must ascertain the vaccination status of such frontline government employees before releasing the monthly salary or remuneration from the current month," the order stated.

Regardless of the registration in the government-build app COWIN,  government employees have not yet taken the COVID-19 vaccine, Assam State Disaster Management Authority Chairperson Jishnu Barua maintained.
