Tripura: Eight youths arrested for alleged sexual assault of four teenage girls

According to sources, the minor girls aged between 14 and 16 years were admitted to a local hospital.

AGARTALA: 

Tripura police have arrested eight youths for allegedly raping four girls, out of who three are minors.

The incident took place on June 12 at the Bardhaman Thakur Para area under Ranir Bazar police station, after the victims were invited by their friends to meet at a nearby rubber garden on Saturday evening. After the girls arrived, they were allegedly gang-raped for hours.

A case has been registered against the accused persons under Sections 376 (B), 120 (B), and 2 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, after the victims' families lodged a police complaint against eight persons.

“We arrested the accused persons based on the complaint, and they were produced before the court on Monday with charges under Section 376 (B), 120 (B), 2 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” Manik Debnath, officer-in-charge of Srinagar police station stated. 
According to sources, the minor girls aged between 14 and 16 years were admitted to a local hospital.
