AGARTALA:

Chairman of The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, has demanded a high-level probe into the killing of two Tripura State Rifle (TSR) officials on Saturday over a leave application.

Speaking to The Northeast Today (TNT), Pradyot said that the families of Subedhar Mark Hasin Jamatia and Naib Subedar Kiran Jamatia will be given Rs 2 lakhs each from the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

“Also we have demanded a High-level probe to come out with a report within a fixed period to come out with the report. The culprit must be given the strictest punishment,” Pradyot said.

When asked about a statement of the president of Tripura People’s Front (TPF) Patal Kanya Jamatia where she said that instead of talking about justice and peace, the leadership of the TIPRA Motha and BJP are talking about creating the fear of communal tension, he said, “Patal Should be careful in commenting about our commitment to our people because we are completely for the justice of this people infect we have given compensation of Rs 2 lakh each of the families and also asked for high-level probe into the matter. I guess Patal is misinformed. We have staged protests across the state demanding justice. I completely support Patal Kanya in her fight or justice for the fight for these two people and we are also doing the same thing”.

He also said that TIPRA is not here to make BJP happy.

“We are here to fight for our own people. We are not trying to politicise. We have always stood for our people. I don’t think that TIPRA motha should speak against another regional party because we want unity,” Pradyot said.

Earlier on December 4, TSR rifleman Sukanta Das killed his two senior officials after they reportedly didn’t accept his leave application. After the incident, Sukanta surrendered before the police. The Court on December 5 has sent Sukanta to 5 days of police remand.
