JAMMU:

The e-procurement system of the northeastern state of Tripura will now be adopted by the government of Jammu and Kashmir for obtaining foodgrains in the Jammu region of the union territory.

According to officials, an online demonstration of the Tripura model of state procurement portal was held on Friday at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo, with an aim to replicate the same in Jammu Division.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) Delhi in collaboration with NIC, Jammu, hosted the demonstration. The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu and Food Corporation of India (FCI) also participated in it.

KK Sharma, the director of agriculture, Jammu, said that in view of the ensuing Kharif marketing season 2021-22, the development of an e-procurement portal was the need of the hour to ensure timely registration of farmers on the portal.

The e-procurement model of Tripura enables the Tenderers to download the Tender Schedule free of cost and then submit the bids online through this portal.

Sharma said that this initiative will help in easy procurement of Kharif produce from the farmers and facilitate transparency in direct money transfer in the accounts of farmers as per MSP (Minimum Support Price) notified by the Government thereby excluding the role of middlemen.

It will also streamline the procurement process and automate the manual process eliminating time wastage and human errors.
