GANGTOK:

The National Highway (NH-10) between Sikkim and West Bengal witnessed a massive traffic jam on Sunday due to multiple landslides triggered by heavy rainfall, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) stated.

Scores of cars kept waiting on the arterial roadway at the 29th-mile area in West Bengal between the Teesta and Rambi rivers which connects the Himalayan state with the rest of India, the BRO reported.

The highway remained completely blocked throughout Sunday, even as efforts to clear the roadway by the BRO continued during the day.

According to BRO, the state has been witnessing heavy rainfall for over a week now, which has triggered landslides in different areas.
