GANGTOK:

Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling appealed to the people to follow Covid guidelines and take all precautionary measures to combat the second wave.

In his appeal released by the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), Chamling said: “The second wave of COVID-19 is upon us, and the virus is spreading again in Sikkim. The numbers at the national level are extremely worrying, and in such deteriorating circumstances, you all must take every precaution to keep yourself healthy and safe.”

“To save oneself and protect oneself is of the utmost priority. For when you take necessary precautions, you are also protecting others. The biggest personal wealth for any person is life itself, and we must take up all means necessary to protect the lives of the Sikkimese people,” Chamling said.

“To improve your immunity, it will not be enough to take supplements or eat healthily. You must get plenty of exercises and take care of your mental health as well. You should aim for a sound sleep of 7-8 hours. Take a sunbath early in the morning - this will be good for your overall health,” he said.

“Keeping the growing COVID-19 cases in Sikkim in mind, I will halt my Statewide social programs and meetings, and I request others to do the same as well. If we act on time, we can safeguard Sikkim from the fast spread of the virus,” he added.
