Sikkim CM announces maternity, paternity leaves for govt school teachers

GANGTOK:

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) announced a year-long maternity leave for female teachers, and a month-long paternity leave for male teachers of all government schools during the Children's Day celebration at Saramsa, on November 14.

The CM added that substitute teachers would be appointed in place of teachers on leave, stressing the importance of good education, construction of new schools, the establishment of
more private universities, good infrastructure, and introduction of new subjects in the school's curriculum for Sikkim.

He further mentioned that the main objective of his administration lies in providing the best campus, competent lecturers, and the best facilities.

CM Tamang also put forth the government's plan of an exposure tour to foreign countries and Indian states so that the state could exchange ideas and learn from good practices.

Assuring the completion of the Geyzing Degree College within a year time, Tamang also announced that the Sikkim State University will be renamed as Kanchenjunga State University.
