Govt deploys additional forces to contain forest fire in South Sikkim

Though the spread of the fire has been controlled to an extent, the district administration has stationed fire tenders at Nagi and other areas of South Sikkim.

GANGTOK:

The Government of Sikkim has deployed firefighters and security personnel to douse the forest fire in the Namthang area of South Sikkim.

Personnel from Namchi Fire Station and other stations across the state have been working tirelessly to reach the spot where the fire is still active.

Though the spread of the fire has been controlled to an extent, the district administration has stationed fire tenders at Nagi and other areas of South Sikkim.

Earlier, District Collector M. Bharani Kumar informed that places like Donak, Mamring, Tingley, Kateng Pamphok and Nagi had reported forest fires, and the team is actively engaged in keeping things under control.
