DIMAPUR:

President of Dimapur Press Club (DPC) and senior journalist of Nagaland, K Filip Sumi, breathed his last on November 12.

38-year-old Sumi was undergoing treatment at a private hospital after a road accident in October this year and had undergone three brain surgeries since then.

As soon as the news broke, condolences poured in from the press fraternity of Nagaland. Expressing grief, the press fraternity remembered Sumi's contribution to journalism during his illustrious career.

The DPC remembered him as a brilliant journalist who was ever curious, ever seeking, and insatiable. “He was someone we looked up to, and with his presence, ideas, and sense of humour, he could brighten up any situation,” the DPC said in a condolence message.

Dimapur commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo, in a condolence message, said that Sumi’s contributions to Naga civil society are immeasurable. “His work has left an indelible mark in the field of journalism, and the vacuum will always be felt,” Tetseo said.

Sumi is survived by his wife and a daughter.
