Nagaland: CM Neiphiu Rio inaugurates oxygen generation plant in Phek

The UNDP along with the Government of Japan is helping the Indian government uplift the health and medical infrastructure across many states to help the nation cope up with the COVID-19 pandemic.

KOHIMA:

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on Wednesday, inaugurated an oxygen generation plant at District Hospital in Phek.

The Chief Minister informed that the oxygen plant has been set up with the help of the Government of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide intensive care treatment to critically ill COVID-19 patients.

With the latest oxygen plant at Phek, Nagaland now has two district hospitals with emergency oxygen supplies that can produce up to 800 litres of oxygen per minute.

The UNDP along with the Government of Japan is helping the Indian government uplift the health and medical infrastructure across many states to help the nation cope up with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UNDP and the Government of Japan have jointly installed a total of eight (8) oxygen generation plants in the Northeast states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura.

It was informed that the plants can serve approximately 1,300 hospital beds.
