Nagaland BJP leader Mmhonlumo Kikon's third book of poems "Slingstones" set to be published

Rupa Publications, which is an Indian publishing company based in New Delhi, announced the acquisition of a book of poems - titled "Slingstones" authored by BJP national spokesperson and advisor to the government of Nagaland, Mmhonlumo Kikon

"Slingstones" is Kikon's third book of poems. It is an exploration of the historical and spiritual landscape of Naga communities.

Kikon's poems identify the constructs of the modern world that seek to replace the indigenous. He explores the process of self-preservation employed by tribes against the onslaught of material and ideational forces, the acquisition read.

According to Kikon, poetry is essential to literature and, it deserves a lot more attention from the publishing world and the readers.

"Slingstones aspires to make a small effort towards that goal," he said.

Kikon, who is an Aspen Fellow and the author of two poetry collections -- The Penmi Poems (2018) and The Village Empire (2019), grew up in Kohima, Nagaland, and has been writing for journals and newspapers since his college days.

He is currently an MLA in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
