KOHIMA:

The Government of Nagaland on Wednesday once again extended the lockdown in the entire state till June 30.

The decision to extend the lockdown was taken after the High Powered Committee (HPC) assessed the overall COVID situation and imposed the restrictions.

HPC spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon said that the state needs to vaccinate about 50 per cent of its population and also bring down the positivity rate.

Taking to Twitter Kikon announced, "The HPC in a meeting today has decided to extend the Lockdown till June 30. Situation is Improving but we are still not out of the woods. Positivity rate is declining but still requires to be below 5 % & we need to vaccinate more than 50% of the population."

Taking into consideration the inconveniences faced by the people due to the lockdown, he further informed that the District Task Force (DTF) will work out the relaxations or restrictions required as per the local situation.
