AIZAWL:

With the online examination for the undergraduate students of Mizoram University beginning on Tuesday, students of Mawhrei village, under Siaha District, walked miles to reach a spot with internet signals.

The students had to walk around 5 km from their houses and climb hills to reach the only location with internet connectivity to appear for their examination.

With the help and cooperation of some locals in the village, the students successfully created a shelter to complete their exams.

As per reports by Prag News, as many as 11 students are appearing for the examination while going through such hardships.

Vabeihruasa, an ex-student leader of the village, said that despite the availability of networks like Jio and Airtel in the village, the connectivity was weak.

The issue of weak connectivity has affected students in other northeastern states as well. Last year, similar instances were also seen for students of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya.
