Mizoram: 76 per cent of people above 45 years received first dose of COVID vaccine

Mizoram has so far administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination to 76 per cent of its population aged 45 and above. 

Dr Eric Zomawia, National Health Mission (NHM) director stated that the vaccination drive was accelerated across the state amid the wave of coronavirus.

In comparison to the national average for vaccination of 11 per cent in the 18-44 age group, Mizoram has already inoculated 41 per cent of people in this age bracket, the director said.

According to Zomawia, while the state has around 2.64 lakh individuals in the 45 years and above category, there are about 5.10 lakh people in the age group of 18-44.

He mentioned that the state has enough stock of vaccine and 82,220 more doses are expected to arrive by next week.
