World Haemophilia Day observed in Meghalaya

To mark the occasion, an awareness discussion on Haemophilia care in children and musculoskeletal complications, and their management were delivered.

SHILLONG: 

World Haemophilia Day, an international awareness day for Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, was observed in Meghalaya on April 17. 

To mark the occasion, an awareness discussion on Haemophilia care in children and musculoskeletal complications, and their management were delivered.

The theme for this year's programme was “Adapting to change: sustaining care in a new world." 

Haemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly due to low levels of either factor VIII (8) or factor IX (9) causing Haemophilia A or Haemophilia B, respectively.

The occasion was graced by the Principal Secretary, Health, Government of Meghalaya, Sampath Kumar, Prof (Dr) Prithwis Bhattacharyya, Director, NEIGRIHMS and David T Umdor, Deputy Director (Administration), NEIGRIHMS.
