Only because we have additional MLAs, we won’t forget our allies, says CM Sangma, ruling out cabinet reshuffle

“We are very clear, we are building trust among our coalition partners and we're sticking by them and there's no question of any change in the cabinet,” he said.

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on November 10 ruled out the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle.

“We work with commitment to our coalition. When we have given our word, we stick by it,” Sangma said, brushing off all speculations that a cabinet reshuffle is on the cards following the National People’s Party’s dominant show in the just-concluded bye-polls.

The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) won the Mawryngkneng and Rajabala seats and its main ally, United Democratic Party (UDP), bagged the Mawphlang seat.

“Yes, we have got additional MLAs but that does not mean that we forget our friends who were with us during those difficult times. We should not forget our coalition partners who have supported us through different issues. Therefore, just because we have additional numbers it doesn't mean we can use them when we want and throw them away when we don't want them,” he said.

Giving a tip on how coalitions should work, Sangma said, “We are very clear, we are building trust among our coalition partners and we're sticking by them and there's no question of any change in the cabinet.”
