SHILLONG:

Good news for local entrepreneurs in Meghalaya! In a bid to promote local business and encourage the youth to be self-reliant, the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Jawai Circle on Saturday launched an application that has all the information about different services in the state. To avail these services, all one needs to do is download the app from play store or visit https://kyntiew.web.app.

Developed by a group, "Thymmei Jingtip", and launched as a part of KSU’s Kyntiew Ia la Ki jong" (Uplifting your own) campaign, the application is touted as a one-stop-shop for all one’s service-related needs.  The app was launched by the KSU general secretary Donald Thabah at the union’s office in Jaiaw Pdeng, Shillong.

Some of the services offered in the app include renovation works, mechanic services, transport booking, photography, baby care, ambulance services, and catering, among others. The app also has information about local markets in Meghalaya along with employment news updates.

Speaking at the event, Donald Thabah said that the Khasi people were self-reliant before the arrival of the British colonizers and this app will help revive that “golden era”. “This app will encourage the youth, provide them recognition, and in turn, will also help the community,” he said. He further added that this app will encourage the local youth to be financially independent and will thus keep them away from unhealthy habits. Interested entrepreneurs who want to register as service providers may contact the team, he said. .

Earlier in April, the union had released a music video Kyntiew Ia La Ki Jong for the campaign performed by various upcoming artistes with a message of helping each other for the benefit of the Khasi community.
