NEIGRIHMS well-equipped to tackle third COVID wave, says new Director

Giving details about the hospital’s readiness, the newly appointed director said that as of now, the hospital’s full wards have been converted into Covid wards, and if the number of cases sees a rise in the future, they have the option of adding more beds to the existing facility.

Prof. (Dr.) Nalin Mehta, who took charge as the new director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on Wednesday, has urged citizens to get vaccinated before the third wave of Covid hits the state.

He assured everybody that the hospital is prepared and well-equipped with a robust Covid critical care unit to tackle any kind of eventuality.

Giving details about the hospital’s readiness, the newly appointed director said that as of now, the hospital’s full wards have been converted into Covid wards, and if the number of cases sees a rise in the future, they have the option of adding more beds to the existing facility.

The director also said that the first and second COVID waves were an eye-opener for the medical institute on operation preparedness and now, they are ramping up the health infrastructure. 

The director also assured full cooperation to the state government in the battle against Covid-19.
