SHILLONG:

North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) became part of the nationwide celebrations on October 21 as India created history by administering 100 crore Covid-19 vaccines to its population.

Jubilant over the feat, NEIGRIHMS authorities said that India has become the only nation in the world to accomplish the mammoth task and that too in such a short time.

“History will document this as the biggest vaccination drive ever, and we as a nation have cause to hold our heads high and take pride in the astute leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, selfless efforts of our healthcare fraternity, the Covid warriors, and the efficient execution of this near-impossible feat by the Central and State governmental machinery,” the authorities said in a statement.

To celebrate the occasion, NEIGRIHMS, in association with the Bank of Baroda, and Rotary Club of Shillong, organised a function at the institute’s campus in Shillong.
