SHILLONG:

Unidentified youths pelted stones at the convoy of Meghalaya Governor, Satya Pal Malik at Jingkieng (bridge) Mawlai on Tuesday around 4 pm.

Police sources informed that, at the time of the incident, the Governor was not travelling in his car and no major damages were caused. "The convoy was on its way to Shillong when the incident happened," the source said, adding that around five to six vehicles were part of the convoy.

Notably, the incident took place just hours after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the law and order situation in Shillong is “slightly calmer”.
