Meghalaya: Tandem paragliding and hand gliding to debut in the state from December

SHILLONG:

In a first in the state, tandem paragliding, hand gliding and other tandem flights for joyrides are scheduled to start in Cherrapunjee and Laitlum from the first week of December.

“Tandem paragliding and tandem hand gliding will start from the first week of December. Local and tourists from mainland India are calling and enquiring when we will start tandem,” said Desmond Nongkhlaw, President of the Meghalaya Aero and Adventure Sports Association on November 11.

Nongkhlaw also informed that such adventure activities would cost around Rs 2500 to Rs 3500 per person.

He said that the inception of such adventure activities in the state would open doors for adventure tourists in the state.  He added that there is already a high demand for adventure sports in the state and people from all over the country are showing interest in adventure sports in Meghalaya.

The association also intends to help disabled kids through their adventure sports endeavours in alliance with the NGO, Bethany Society, from Shillong.
