Meghalaya Police seizes huge quantity of explosive materials in Ri-Bhoi district

The recovered items include 23 nos of Gelatine Stick Class-2 Explosives (2.875 kg),  24 nos of Non-Electric Detonators and 9 m Safety Fuse/Cordex.

NONGPOH: 

Meghalaya Police in an operation on Sunday uncovered a huge amount of explosives in Umdu village.

According to sources, West Garo Hills Police, along with Ri-Bhoi Police, conducted a joint operation in Umdu village on Umling-Patharkhmah Road under Nongpoh Police station.

The recovered items include 23 nos of Gelatine Stick Class-2 Explosives (2.875 kg),  24 nos of Non-Electric Detonators and 9 m Safety Fuse/Cordex.

One person was detained on the ground of possession of these explosives. The recovery was part of an ongoing investigation in which two persons were arrested in Tura on 23 July 2021. 

Further, during the investigation, the arrested persons revealed their plan to use the explosives hidden in Ri-Bhoi District near Umling as Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) in Garo Hills.
