Meghalaya: No COVID positive case in Loreto Convent, says Principal

The school has also informed the parents about the decision to revert to online classes for Nursery to X and XII from April 6 to 9, 2021, raising concern over the current situation and the safety of the students.

The Principal of Loreto Convent, Sister Mercia, on Tuesday, clarified that there is no COVID positive case in the school.

In a statement issued here, she said, “There seem to be rumours circulating that Loreto has moved online because someone tested positive. I want to assure you that this is not true.”

She added that the safety of the students of class XII, who are appearing for their practical board exams from Tuesday (April 6), is the reason the school decided to conduct online classes.

The school has also informed the parents about the decision to revert to online classes for Nursery to X and XII from April 6 to 9, 2021, raising concern over the current situation and the safety of the students.

The principal said that the commencement of the ISC Practical Exams, the detection of positive cases at NEHU and, the possibility that some students may have gone out of town during the Easter Break are the reasons for reverting to online classes. 

The principal added that the details for the online classes will be provided by the class teachers in the respective WhatsApp groups.

“Students are reminded not to leave town since regular classes will resume as soon as possible. The Unit Tests scheduled for this week have been postponed to a later date,” the principal said. 

Meanwhile, when contacted, Director of DHS (MI) Dr Aman Warr confirmed that there is no COVID positive case in Loreto Convent.
