Leader of the opposition, Mukul Sangma on Monday questioned the state government’s intention over the just concluded voting in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council over the clubbing of polling stations and the nonuse of Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) during voting.

“There seems some malafide intention due to which VVPATs, as has been mandated for polls, have not been used. The non-use already leaves a lot of questions,” said the former CM after casting his vote in the Chengompara polling station.

Further the opposition leader raised objections to the clubbing of 2-3 polling stations into one stating that it had proved very inconvenient for villagers who had to walk miles rather than metres.
