Joint Director of Meghalaya Board of School Education, M Marbaniang, has stated that Shillong and Nongpoh are the two places where students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) have been affected due to COVID-19.

Speaking to The Northeast Today (TNT) on Thursday, Marbaniang informed 41 candidates will appear for HSSLC and 32 candidates for SSLC from East Khasi Hills District. Similarly, from Nongpoh 29 candidates will appear for SSLC and 20 others for HSSLC.

He further informed that a total of 98 students will be appearing for SSLC and 92 students are appearing for HSSLC examinations. There are 8 centres across the state for HSSLC and 18 centres for SSLC.

Marbaniang said that the COVID special examinations were supposed to be conducted on July 9, however, they have been rescheduled to July 12 due to local holidays.

He further stated that MBoSE wanted to avoid examination dates on local holidays such as Behdienkhlam or Labour Corp Day, hence the postponement.
