 |

JOWAI:

Jowai legislator Wailadmiki Shylla, on Thursday, announced that a scholarship of Rs 5,000 would be granted to students in an initiative towards achieving COVID-19 vaccination targets.

The MLA informed that the move is to encourage people against vaccine hesitancy, however, it is not an attempt to pressurise anyone.

“We will select ten families and provide scholarships to the children of that family. An amount of Rs 5,000 will be given, and ten families will be selected through a lucky draw,” the MLA stated.

The ‘offer’ stands valid for those who manage to get themselves vaccinated between June 21 to June 30.

Meanwhile, West Jaintia Hills district now has a total of  64 vaccination sites to promote vaccine registration efficiently.

Earlier, the MLA had met the district administration and various officials of the health department to examine the uncertainty of vaccination among the people in view of the rising COVID infection in the district.
