 NONGSTOIN:

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), led by President Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh, donated sixty hammers to the stone crushers of Mawrok Porsohsat village in Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills (WKH) district.

They also distributed plastic sheets to use as temporary shelters at the stone quarry along the Shillong-Nongstoin road.

While addressing a gathering, Kharsyiemlieh lauded the stone crushers for working tirelessly to fulfil the needs of their families and encouraged them to keep up the excellent work.

He also stated that the HYC would urge the State Government to come up with a policy that would benefit them.

We may note that Mawrok Porsohsat was the first village in West Khasi Hills district to take up stone crushing in 1972.
