Four houses were gutted in fire at Songsak village under East Garo Hills (EGH) district on Wednesday.

The fire was reportedly caused by electrical wire snapping, according to reports.

As per reports, the houses upon which the electrical wires snapped were reduced to cinders.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of EGH said the matter was being looked into.

“An initial proposal on the incident has been sent to the state government over compensation but will be confirmed after the complete report as per NDRF/SDRF,” informed DC, Swapnil Tembe.
