SHILLONG:

The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has sent a petition to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma requesting a special sanction scheme for COVID-19 patients and the deceased.

In the letter addressed to the CM, the FKJGP stated that families affected by the COVID pandemic are going through hardships due to the financial crisis, and therefore they can be given some assistance to overcome the financial impediment.

The FKJGP also stated that some private hospitals are trying to take advantage in the name of COVID, for which many people do not want to go for testing and medical treatment given the medical expenses incurred at private hospitals.

“We, therefore, urge your good office to kindly sanction a special scheme for COVID-19 patients admitted to government and private patients so that they can
bare their expenses for medical treatment and other expenses," the organization said.
