NONGPOH:

The members of the Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), North Khasi Hills District, on Wednesday closed and put one rubber production industry known as Resource Rubber Pvt. Ltd under lock and key.

They shut down the industry based on the allegations that it had failed to produce valid documents and pay the land rent to the landowners, informed FKJGP President Luistar Lyngdoh.

Set up at Mawsmai village, 11 Mile under Ri Bhoi District in Meghalaya, the industry was run by an individual named Rohit Kapoor.

During the sudden inspection of the industry, the members of the FKJGP enquired about the valid documentations and how the management had failed to pay the land rent for the past few years, but the industry representative failed to answer.

Upon witnessing the facts, the organisation was compelled to put the industry under lock and key until the owner produced valid documents and also paid the rent to the landowners.
