SHILLONG:

An official Facebook page of the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards was launched by commandment general AR Mawthoh (IPS) in Shillong on Wednesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch, Mawthoh said that the importance of social media as a medium to disseminate information and messages in the present day cannot be ignored, and hence this launch was important.

The commandant said that the Facebook Page will allow the department to share important information, notifications and advisories with the public.

“Information on recruitment in the Department can be uploaded on the page with a link for the detailed notice in the Departmental website (www.meghomeguards.gov.in), which can be very effective for a majority of our youths who are on Facebook these days,” Mawtoh said while underlying the importance of the page.

Mawtoh referred to Prime Minister's 10 Point Agenda for disseminating information on social media in times of emergencies and eventualities, which can be of great help to the public.

He said that utilisation of social media for the benefit of the citizens is the primary objective of the government, and that the page will go a long way to serve the purpose of the department in the public interest.

He invited the general public to visit the Facebook page of “Meghalaya Civil Defence, Home Guards &SDRF” at https://www.facebook.com/MeghalayaCDHG, and also to like and follow the page for getting the latest information of the Department.
