Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Saturday informed that the government would start an 'aggressive' campaign next week in every village to raise awareness on the dangers of COVID-19, with a stress on individual care.

Stating that the people should not take the pandemic lightly, Tynsong told reporters that the aggressive campaign is aimed at facilitating behavioural change.

The Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) will be entrusted to take the campaign to the community.

"The government wants to inform the people to not take the spread of the virus lightly and take individual care (to arrest the virus)," he said.

He added that it is time for every household to take care of themselves individually.

"Please take care of yourself; it is better to stop unnecessary movement," Tynsong exhorted.

Through the DIPR, the 'aggressive' campaign is set to be carried out in every village in the form of short films, and other forms.

Speaking about the availability of oxygen, the Dy CM said that the oxygen generator in Shillong Civil Hospital will be installed next week, even as oxygen generators for Tura, Jowai and Nongpoh will reach the state soon.

It may be mentioned that six units of oxygen generators will be installed in Civil Hospital, Shillong.
