Meghalaya: AAI donates 2 ambulances to Ri Bhoi district

The AAI officials met the Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah at the DC's chamber on Thursday and signed a Memorandum of Association (MOA) for the same.

In its effort to contribute towards upliftment and development of the society in Ri Bhoi district, which is also known as Aspirational District, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will provide two ambulances to the district.

The AAI officials met the Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah at the DC's chamber on Thursday and signed a Memorandum of Association (MOA) for the same.

The signing of the MoA was done by Airport Director Barapani (Shillong) Manish Kumar Agrawal along with other officials.

Giving details about the AAI initiatives, Agrawal said that the AAI is not only ensuring world-class aviation services but also contributing towards the upliftment and development of society through its CSR program.

He also said that the ambulances will help to strengthen the health services in the region given the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The ambulances will be purchased for Rs 29 lakhs, he said.

It may also be noted that the AAI (Shillong Airport) had contributed an amount of Rs 10 lakhs to the Deputy Commissioner in 2020 for the procurement of COVID-19 test equipment.

After signing the MoA, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed her sincere gratitude and appreciation to the officials of the Airport Authority of India, adding that, the ambulance can cater to the need of the citizens of the district, especially during trying times.
