SHILLONG:

Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) chairman Wailadmiki Shylla said that following the Cabinet approval for a joint venture in MCCL, a committee will be set up to initiate the joint venture process.

The Meghalaya Cabinet on July 19 has cleared the proposal to start the process of having a joint venture partnership to revive the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL).

“After the approval by the Cabinet, a committee will be formed to plan the provisions for the joint venture and figure out the percentage and other formalities,” he told reporters on July 22.

Stating that MCCL is a brand name not just in the state but outside the state as well, he said that people still demand the MCCL brand and expressed hope to revive the company.

“There are new companies that take years to build a brand. I am fully confident that MCCL will be revived as it is already a brand name, even quality-wise till date. None can beat MCCL,” Shylla said.

He is confident that after formulation of the provision, the MCCL will be operational. The challenge currently is to convince the stakeholder, but he was hopeful it will be resolved.
