Load shedding duration extended in Meghalaya, Power Minister clarifies

Meghalaya on Saturday experienced load shedding for a longer period of time against the three hours scheduled timing due to some technical snag in the OTPC Palatana Power Plant in Tripura. 

Addressing the media, Power Minister James Sangma clarified that a technical snag of the 2nd Unit of the OTPC Palatana Power Plant has resulted in zero generation from OTPC, affecting power supply not just in Meghalaya but across the Northeast. 

Earlier, the power department had announced a 3-hour load shedding from April 24 due to the maintenance of 1 unit of OTPC.

The power shutdown will continue till further order.
