SHILLONG:
Meghalaya is set to experience three hours of load shedding starting midnight of April 24.

The load shedding is imposed due to the shortage of power caused by the maintenance shutdown of one unit of the OTPC Palatana Power Station and delayed monsoons in Meghalaya, resulting in a shortfall of 2-2.5 MU per day.

“Keeping in mind the present examinations taking place in the State, we have tried to minimise the inconvenience caused to students by limiting the load shedding to 3 hours. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to the public of Meghalaya,” a press release issued by Power Minister James Sangma said.

“The Power Department along with the MeECL is making all efforts to try and resolve this issue at the earliest,” the release added.
