Meghalaya: Ka Sur u Paidbah writes to CS and Director of Health Services on PMGKY scheme

The organization has requested the state Health and Family Department to issue wide publicity in English and in local language.

Ka Sur u Paidbah (KSUP) has written to the Chief Secretary and the Director of Health Services (DHS) on the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Scheme.

The organization said that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) which is an Insurance Scheme for Health Workers who are fighting COVID-19 was launched on March 30, 2020 to provide comprehensive personal accident cover of Rs 50 Lakh to healthcare providers, including community health workers and private health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this.

Private Hospital Staff/retired/volunteer/local urban bodies/contract/daily wage/ad hoc/outsourced staffs requisitioned by State/Central Hospital/autonomous hospitals of Central/States/UTs, AIIMS & INIs/Hospitals of Central Ministries specifically drafted for care of Covid-19 patients were also covered under the scheme.

“After the launch of the scheme and because of the continuation of the pandemic, for the safety net for health workers working in the front lines, the scheme was extended twice up to 24.04.2021 which was further revived for 180 days to continue safety net to the frontline health workers deputed to care of Covid-19 patients,” the organization stated.

The organization has requested the state Health and Family Department to issue wide publicity in English and in local language about the scheme.
