SHILLONG:

National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Pyniaid Sing Syiem for Mawryngkneng on Thursday said that he will dedicate Rs 2.5 crore MLA scheme to the people of the constituency if elected in the upcoming bye-election on October 30.

“We will dedicate the entire 2.5 crore MLA Scheme to the people of Mawryngkneng for development,” Syiem told the press after filing his nomination.

“If the people elect me, the first and foremost thing we will do is to work together with the Dorbar Shnong to ensure basic necessities such as water supply, roads, and electricity to all households," he added.

The chairman of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) maintained that as a sitting Member of District Council (MDC) he has tried his best to serve the people of the constituency.

Stating that the constituency still lags in terms of health facilities, Syiem said, “We have been able to convince the government to upgrade the primary health care (PHC) into a Community Health Centre (CHC). This is not for my personal benefit or for the benefit of the government, but it is for the people of the constituency."
