I left Congress because I wanted to be Mawphlang MLA on NPP’s ticket: Lamphrang Blah

SHILLONG:

Four-time sitting Member of District Council (MDC) of Mawphlang, Lamphrang Blah on Thursday said that the reason behind him leaving the Congress has nothing to do with him not getting a ticket from the party.

“This is because Kennedy C Khyriem is there as an ex-MLA and ticket aspirant. Therefore, as a loyalist and gentleman, I don’t want to quarrel for tickets with anyone,” he said, adding that he never applied for a ticket from the Congress because he wanted to fulfill his ambition of becoming an MLA from Mawphlang on a National People’s Party ticket. “Hence, I joined the NPP,” he said.

He also exuded confidence that he will win from the seat. “I am confident as I have the support of the people of Mawphlang constituency. At the same time, I request the voters of Mawphlang to give me the support I need to fulfill my ambition.”

He, however, said that he does not think that sympathy votes will impact the bye election since the electorates of Mawphlang constituency are educated people and will think about the future of the constituency before exercising their franchise.
